In summer 2016, a concert featuring a selection of songs from Ragtime was presented on Ellis Island for an invited audience. As the first step in sharing these stories with a wider audience, this one night only event served both as an introduction to the site-specific concept, and as an opportunity to live out the narrative of Ragtime on this meaningful site.​

Ragtime is based on the novel by E. L. Doctorow, and features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens.
